Safaricom on Tuesday unveiled a new ten-week long promotion labeled “Shukrani Kocho Kocho Kenya Nzima” that will see the telco award approximately Ksh. 250 million in prizes to loyal customers across the country.
The campaign, according to Safaricom’s Chief Customer Officer; Sylvia Mulinge, seeks to recognize the telco’s customers who have remained faithful to the Safaricom brand over the years.
“The Shukrani KochoKocho Kenya Nzima campaign seeks to celebrate and reward our more than 29 million customers for their continued loyalty. It further reiterates our commitment to provide our customers with relevant products and offers in line with our promise of ‘Nawe Kila Wakati’,” Ms. Mulinge said in an official statement.
To participate for the promotion, Safaricom customers will have to spend Ksh. 20; either by purchasing airtime or by transacting Ksh. 20 on the telco’s M-Pesa platform. A top up of Ksh. 20 worth of airtime will see customers earn 10 entries in the promotion while customers will earn one entry for every Ksh. 20 transacted on M-Pesa.
As stated by Safaricom, qualifying M-PESA transactions include sending money, receiving money from a business, transfers from a financial institution to M-PESA, and all Lipa Na M-PESA transactions.
Safaricom’s Chief Customer Officer also revealed that the promotion was designed to actively involve all 47 counties in Kenya.
“During the promotion, Safaricom will reward eight winners from each of the eight regions with KES 1 million every week. In the Grand Finale, Safaricom will reward one winner from each of the 47 counties with KES 1 million. We have structured the promotion to represent the diversity of the country by ensuring that we reward a millionaire in each county,” Ms. Mulinge explained.
Safaricom will also hold an additional ten weekly draws for each of the regions which will see more than 500,000 customers win cash prizes of KES 1,000. More than five million customers will also stand to win daily airtime prizes.
