Processing and packaging solutions provider Tetra Pak East Africa has appointed Mr. Jonathan Kinisu as its Managing Director (MD), making him the first Kenyan to hold the position in the firm since its inception.
Mr. Kinisu, who first joined the firm in 2012 as its Regional Manager for Tanzania and Ethiopia, will be taking over from Swedish national Hakan Soderholm.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr. Kinisu expressed enthusiasm to lead the company at a time when it is experiencing a significant growth driven by consumers’ needs for affordable and quality products.
“My ambition is to reinforce Tetra Pak’s packaging solutions leadership in East Africa and support our customers unlock real value for their investments. East Africa has vast opportunities that can firmly position the region as one of the leading food manufacturing hubs in the world for dairy, fruit juices and soya products as well as fruit pulp extraction and food processing,” Mr. Kinisu said.
He similarly reiterated that Tetra Pak will continue offering exemplary services to its customers despite the change in leadership.
“Our customers and investors can rely on Tetra Pak’s industry knowledge to demonstrate these opportunities as we have done in over 160 countries around the world for the past 65 years. Tetra Pak in East Africa is also committed to working closely with our customers on sustainability to ensure that we are all doing our part to improve the world,” Mr. Kinisu explained.
Prior to working at the packaging firm, the new Tetra Pak MD worked for Shell Oil both in Kenya and in the United States.
