For the second year in a row, network service provider Safaricom has been named the best company to work for locally, a survey by talent recruitment agency Brighter Monday has revealed.
The survey that examined 100 local companies took into account fundamental traits that matter the most in a company such as: competitive pay package, job security, career growth, financial stability and welfare benefits. Former current and prospective employees voted for the companies in the Brighter Monday led survey.
The survey named East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) as the second best company to work for in the country. The United Nations (UN) came in third followed by KCB Group at fourth while the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) came in at number five. Kenya Pipeline Company, KenGen, PWC, Coca Cola and Kenya Airways respectively rounded off the top ten companies to work for in the country.
This is not the first time that Safaricom has ranked high in a list of top employers in the country. In October 2018, the country largest telco in terms of market share, also appeared in Forbes magazine’s Global 2000 list of the World’s Best Employers. In the Forbes list Safaricom was ranked as the 67th best employer in the world. The company had 5,434 employees as of June 6, 2018, according to the ranking which also put the telco’s market capital at US$11.1 billion.
Forbes top 100 list was however dominated by US based companies led by Google’s parent company Alphabet. Out of the top 500 employers in the Forbes list, 185 US companies were based in the United States. Walt Disney, Apple, Microsoft, Apple and Amazon.com also featured on the list.
