Silverstone Air to introduce daily flights to Homa Bay

In an effort to augment its local network coverage and footprint, low cost airline Silverstone Air Services is set to introduce daily direct flights from Nairobi to Homa Bay effective September 2, 2019.

The flights will depart from Wilson Airport at 0730hrs to arrive at Homa Bay’s Kabunde Airstrip in Homa Bay at 0815hrs. The return trip will then leave the Western town at 0840hrs to arrive in the Capital at 0925hrs.

According to a news report by the Business Daily, the move by the airline was informed by increased demand from the carrier’s customers plying the western circuit route.

“The addition of this route to our network starting September 2 is as a result of the numerous enquiries we have received since the launch of Kisumu route. It will help boost our network coverage and make it convenient for traders in the region to move with ease,” Silverstone Air sales Manager Patrick Oketch is quoted as having said by the Business Daily.

Mr. Oketch similarly revealed that introduction of the additional flights will increase trade links between Nairobi and Homa Bay counties.

Last month the low cost carrier introduced a new route to Maasai Mara and in May the airline started plying the Eldoret route in line with its zealous expansion plan that seeks to establish the airline’s reach in the local aviation market which is dominated by carriers such as Jambojet and Skyward Express.

The airline currently offers flights between the capital, Mombasa, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda, Lamu and Lodwar.  The air service provider is also set to introduce direct flights to Garissa later this month in an effort to attract customers using the North Eastern route.

Apart from ferrying passengers between various destinations within the country, the carrier also provides Commercial Cargo Services, Private Charter Services, Evacuation, Humanitarian and Relief Services and Aircraft Leasing services.
