Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort in Shanzu has been awarded the highly coveted Five Star rating by the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) following a classification exercise conducted in the South Rift, Nairobi and Coast regions.
According to a news report by Business Daily, the beach resort joins other hotels in the coastal region including Medina Palms Suites and Villas in Kilifi, Leopard Beach Resort and Spa in Kwale and Swahili Beach Resort.
“Pride Inn Scored 100 percent on essential items as required by the EAC grading procedure. The hotel also scored a total of 4, 544 marks out of the possible maximum score of 5,665 marks which is 80.2 percent for a five-star grading,” TRA director-general Kipkorir Lagat said as quoted by the Business Daily.
Mr Lagat added that an assessment on the hotels in South Rift, Nairobi and Coast regions was done between June 9 and July 14 by East Africa Community Certified Assessors and supervised by Standardization and Classification Committee of TRA.
This comes at a time when the hospitality standards are currently being harmonised across East Africa in a bid to spur competition that forces investors to spruce up their facilities and ensure high-quality services.
The local daily’s similarly reported that this ranking is expected to give Pride Inn Paradise a boost to its local and international tourist markets.
The 240-roomed beach hotel opened in 2015 and is the only hotel in the region with a conference facility that accommodates up to 2,500 people.
